Donor Privacy Policy
It is the intention of the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) to be good stewards of donor information and donor records. Donor Confidentiality is protected in our Employee Handbook and by Board Policies.
HSSC will not sell or share the names and/or contact information of our individual donors to any of the following: other animal welfare or non-profit organizations or for-profit entities without a vote by the Board of Directors.
Any public listing or acknowledgment of private foundation support, supporter naming opportunities for our capital or operating campaigns, including memorial and honorary gifts will respect the expressed wishes of each donor. All requests for anonymity will be honored.
This policy is not meant to constrain or to preclude the following practices:
- Notices of collaborative events, information, etc. that we send to our donors as part of a joint partnership event or initiative as long as we control the donor information
- Website listings for business or corporate sponsors provided as a benefit of event or service sponsorship with full knowledge of the donating sponsor
- Contracts with donor software or direct mail or other vendors necessary to execute fundraising appeals and campaigns. All vendor agreements must honor and protect donor confidentiality.
