Adoptable dogs are listed below. Information is automatically updated in real time as animals become available or are adopted.

Visit the adoption center at our shelter, located at 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH  44313, to find the perfect companion animal! We will do our best to ensure the right fit and a smooth transition.

Drop in anytime during our adoption hours: 11 am – 6 pm weekdays or 11 am – 5 pm weekends. Questions? Contact us by phone at (330) 487-0333 ext. 803 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message.

Adoption Fees

  • Under 1 year: $250
  • 1 year to 7 years: $150
  • 8 years or older: $75

Veteran Pet Program

Veterans and active military personnel receive 25% off of adoption fees. Valid military ID is required.

The Humane Society of Summit County is no longer selling dog licenses. All dog licenses are sold online through DocuPet. Dog owners will be contacted by DocuPet when it’s time to renew their dog’s license. For those who prefer to purchase a license in person, they can visit the Summit County Fiscal Office Services Department at 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, OH  44310. If a dog owner has questions or would like to purchase a license for a new dog, contact the Services Department at 330-630-7226.

Humane Society of Summit County will be closed to the public on Monday, January 26, due to weather.
