Visit the adoption center at our shelter, located at 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313, to find the perfect companion animal! We will do our best to ensure the right fit and a smooth transition.

Adoption Fees

Under 1 year: $250
1 year to 7 years: $150
8 years or older: $75

Veteran Pet Program

Veterans and active military personnel receive 25% off of adoption fees. Valid military ID is required.

The Humane Society of Summit County will no longer be selling dog licenses. All dog license sales will be handled online through Docupet. Dog owners will be contacted by DocuPet when it’s time to renew their dog’s license. For those who prefer to purchase a license in person, they can visit the Services Department of the Summit County Fiscal Office, located at 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron , OH 44310. If a dog owner has questions or would like to purchase a license for a new dog, they can contact the Services Department at 330-630-7226.
